Steeped in heritage, Mercedes-Benz have always been renowned for their quality, innovation and performance. I’ve owned an A200 AMG Line for over two years and am still stunned everyday by the attention to detail and comfort. So how does their latest offering fit into their existing range?
The Mercedes-Benz X-Class
The new-for-2018 X-Class is capitalising on a 15% Year-on-Year increase in luxury pick-up trucks, looking to take on the likes of the Ford Ranger, the X-Class is looking to bring Mercedes-Benz quality to the rough and rugged segment. Built in alliance with Renault-Nissan, it shares a platform with the already popular Nissan Navara. It doesn’t feature the new dual 10″ displays featured in the A/CLA and E-Class variants, but it doesn’t need too. Its not built with those demographics in mind. Instead, it’s built for those that have an outdoor lifestyle, but still want driving comfort.
An X-traordinary launch
I was invited along with other social influencers to attend the UK launch on Friday. The scale and attention-to-detail Mercedes-Benz puts into its projects still amazes me despite working with them for almost three years. With various models on display, the X-Class had been transformed into both a bar and a DJ booth, demonstrating the versatility.
With influencers as far as the eye could see, everyone was capturing the ‘perfect photo’ to immortalise the event. Always looking for that element that sets Mercedes at the top, brand Ambassador Tinie Tempah stunned with an hour-long set. All making the most of the hashtag, #60MinutesWithX. A spectacular event and one which created the social media frenzy Mercedes-Benz would have been expecting.
Why the Mercedes-Benz X-Class will take the UK by storm
You may remember I wrote about how why everyone will want a Jaguar Land Rover in 2018. While Jaguar have been busy consuming the Saloon and Crossover markets. Mercedes-Benz have combated this strategy by moving into new emerging markets. With such high growth in the UK last year alone, we’re about to see more and more pick-up trucks on UK roads. The Mercedes-Benz name also comes the high brand image that people aspire too. Look at their most recent models; GLE, GLC, AMG-GT, they all bestow the quality that ensures they are demanded in large quantities. Mercedes know what they’re doing, and they know how to do it right.
